Rider-Waite (Primary): The Process of Experience / Osho Zen Tarot (Auxiliary): Guidance for the Soul
Part 2: Minor Arcana
If the “Major Arcana” represents the macroscopic, epic “turning points” in our lives (such as “Death” or “The Tower”), then the “Minor Arcana” is our map of “daily” practice. [This is where true “Integration” happens. The practice is not to escape the world, but to bring “Total Awareness” into it—your office, your dining table, your relationships, and even traffic jams are your truest meditation halls.
📖 Rider-Waite: The Four Elements in Reality
In the Rider-Waite Tarot, the Minor Arcana depicts our encounters in the material world through Four Elements (Suits). These 56 cards act as a detailed “event map,” showing how energy flows and manifests in different aspects of life.
| Suit / Element | Rider-Waite (External Events) | Osho Zen Tarot (Inner Awareness) |
|---|---|---|
| 🔥 Wands / Fire | Action & Energy: Career, creation, ambition, competition, travel. About “What you are doing.” | Vitality & Passion: Practice is not about how much you “do,” but whether you do it “totally.” [cite_start]Are you aware or driven by unconsciousness? |
| 💧 Cups / Water | Emotion & Relationship: Love, friendship, family, intuition, feelings. About “What you are feeling.” | Emotional Flow: Practice is not repression, but feeling “neutrally.” [cite_start]When emotions rise, can you “witness” them without “being” them? |
| ☁️ Swords / Clouds | Mind & Conflict: Thought, logic, communication, hurt, decision making. About “What you are thinking.” | Mind Noise: Practice is not stopping thoughts, but seeing through conditioning. [cite_start]Osho calls them “Clouds” obscuring the blue sky of awareness. |
| 🌈 Pentacles / Rainbows | Material & Body: Money, work, health, property, reality. About “What you have.” | Grounding: Practice is not floating in the air, but “feeling” the body, experiencing material energy, living in the “Here and Now” |
🧘 Osho Zen Tarot: How to Use This Map?
For the following 56 cards, please do not use them for “fortune telling.” Do not ask: “Should I…?” (This is seeking external authority). Try asking: “Regarding this matter, what is my current ‘somatic perception’ and ‘inner state’?”
These four suits serve as a “neutral mirror” to help you bring “awareness” into your most ordinary daily life. And this is the most profound “Transformation”.
