Good or Bad? It Depends on Your Own Path

Taiwan is an abundant island. Since childhood, I’ve heard elders say, “This place is the legendary Penglai Immortal Island (Formosa) from mainland legends, a place where gods reside, home to many deities, with a pleasant climate and abundant produce.” And during the 2020 pneumonia pandemic, it was also miraculous; although we exported some cases, the situation on the island itself was good. Some friends told me, “It’s because the island of Taiwan is specially surrounded and cared for by many holy spirits.”

Using such an explanation for the pandemic seems a bit too exaggerated to me, but Taiwan indeed has many people, events, and things that are different from other places. In folk culture, there are many methods and laws for cultivation and seeking immortality. One issue I’ve focused on is: when a person begins to sense different, other-worldly spaces, it means their path of cultivation has opened. That person then begins a relentless search for the true path; otherwise, they are prone to bad luck and misfortune. From long-term observation, this phenomenon seems to exist, but I don’t know if other regions have the same custom.

I remember being obsessed with books during my childhood and adolescence. If I had no money to buy books, I’d drift to the comic rental shop. If I still had no money, I’d drift to the temple to borrow books. Thus, I unconsciously read a plethora of miscellaneous books, esoteric knowledge, and legends of gods and ghosts… Occasionally, I would say bizarre things to those around me. One day, an elder, whose identity I’ve forgotten, stopped me. He said, “You child, you keep talking about all those ghostly things, don’t you know that’s not good? When a person has different sensory abilities, it is a form of karma. It means you are different from others around you, seeing things others cannot see. That is a significant difference, you know? In the future, don’t keep talking nonsense or go in that direction.”

After a long time, the elder’s words and the tension of him angrily grabbing me to speak still linger in my memory. Yes, and looking back, what he said was not wrong at all. When a person is different, it is the beginning of a major life lesson. The person involved often cannot easily find relevant guidance from their surroundings. So, whether it is good or bad, good karma or bad karma… it still depends on the person’s subsequent learning and cultivation.

The development of a psychic is also closely related to their personal learning and cognition. As a certain master once said, what you sense is sometimes not the most important thing; what’s more important is how you interpret this area. Depending on the psychic’s cognition and state of mind, much of the information received will be influenced by the psychic themselves. For example, seeing a woman in red in a third-eye projection could be interpreted as a fierce ghost, or it could be interpreted as a woman full of life force. This, then, gets to the heart of the direction a psychic practitioner can guide towards—whether it leads to life or to death.

Therefore, when choosing a practitioner who reads various tools, no matter what their tool is or how deep their reading ability, the most important requirement is the mental health and cognitive integrity of the reader/psychic themselves. Otherwise, the entire so-called intuitive guidance or psychic situation will develop negatively. This is because the psychic’s mental health is also related to the spiritual entities they connect with. A healthier, clearer psychic is usually more able to connect with higher-level guiding spirits.

On the other hand, the harm to an under-learned psychic is actually very deep, because people always tend to firmly believe what they see and hear. Without correct knowledge and learning, the situation for these people who have supposedly “opened their consciousness to the universe” can become quite chaotic, even affecting their life, health, and future, let alone expecting to have extra strength to support others.

Ultimately, I don’t know when it started, but learning to become a so-called “psychic channel” or “opening universal consciousness” became a trend for a small group. But I think this can be considered a rather positive learning experience. In conclusion, no matter what you do, maintaining personal physical, mental, and spiritual health should be the foremost public movement.
